Doctor Who Confidential
A collection of Doctor Who content is available under the umbrella of the '50th Anniversary Collection' on iTunes. According to the description it will include 'The Day of the Doctor' anniversary special and 'An Adventure in Space and Time' when they are released. Already there are 'Revisited' specials, the Proms, and more recently the mini-episode, 'The Last Day.' A season pass to all the content is $29.95, although you can purchase them individually and some are offered for free.
There were some rumours that a finished version or almost finished version of Doctor Who Confidential exsisted. On last nights Viewer comments Programme "Points of View" these rumours were put to rest.
"Death is the Only Answer" is a mini episode produced as a result of a 'Script to Screen' competition geared to children (9 to 11 years old) which you may had seen documented on Doctor Who Confidential. The winning entry resulted in having their script produced into a mini episode which was shown in the finale episode of Doctor Who Confidential on Saturday. This is that mini episode.
As of Saturday the 1st of October, Doctor Who Confidential is no more. After six years of coverage of the production of Doctor Who and background information, Confidential comes to an end, but it goes out with a bang, not with a whimper.
As followers of the British Schools Writing Competition should know, Confidential has been following the process and on Saturday it comes to a climax as the finished episode "Death is the Only Answer" is transmitted on Confidential.
So thank you Doctor Who Confidential for all your information, past and present. You shall be missed.
Even though we are still a couple weeks away from the airing of Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol (coming to BBC (6pm) and BBC America (9pm) on the 25th of December), we already have a release date for the special on Blu-ray and DVD.
Just in time for Gallifrey 22, the special is slated for release on the 15th of February. So much for giving it as a Valentine's Day gift. Along with the special, the accompanying 'Doctor Who: Confidential' on it and 'Doctor Who at the Proms 2010' will be included as bonus material.
We can also assume that the special will be available on iTunes the day after it is shown on BBC America, so figure on it being there on Boxing Day.
BBC America offers a 14-minute cut-down episode of Doctor Who Confidential (War Games) featuring a behind the scenes look at Doctor Who: 'Victory of the Daleks' on their site here.
