Sonic Newsdriver is Back and it's About Time (and Space)!
"Good news everyone…" (I say in a Professor Fransworth voice from Futurama), The Sonic Newsdriver podcast is back and it's about time (and space of course). The latest episode is now available a week prior to the launch of the 4th series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, and as such, there's plenty of coverage about it in this episode, along with of course news about Doctor Who itself and more. It is a great way to stay on top of selected Doctor Who related news while on the go!

Awards for Doctor Who and The Waters of Mars
Doctor Who has won Best Family Drama by the TV Choice Awards 2010. Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Steven Moffat (Lead Writer and Executive Producer) were there in person at the ceremony Monday evening hosted by Alexander Armstrong (voice of "Mr. Smith" on The Sarah Jane Adventures).

This comes on the heels of another award granted to Doctor Who, this time a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form) for last year's Doctor Who special, The Waters of Mars(Amazon US link).
Out of the handful of Doctor Who specials transmitted last year, I enjoyed Waters most.
Paul Cornell was at the Hugo Awards ceremony presenting an award.
Congratulations all around!
Short Preview for Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4 (video)
To go along with the reported start date for Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures (see Sarah Jane, The Doctor, and Jo Grant Return in October), there is a very short video preview for it as well:

Sarah Jane, The Doctor, and Jo Grant Return in October
According to various (unconfirmed) reports on the net, the new 4th series of The Sarah Jane Adventures will be returning to the BBC and CBBC on Monday, 11 October 2010 (with part 1 of The Nightmare Man by Joseph Lidster).
It is unclear whether the new series is back to one episode a week or will it be similar to last year which transmitted two episodes a week. Remember, each story takes two half-hour episodes to tell in The Sarah Jane Adventures. The BBC had commissioned two new series (24 x 30-minutes episodes), this is the first of the two (12 episodes telling six stories). No details as of yet pertaining to this series outside of the UK.

The Sarah Jane Adventures titles have just been announced for Series 4, They are

It Was 25 Years Ago Today, The Gallifreyan Embassy Began…
It was a quarter of century ago today, as hard as it is for me believe, is when the Gallifreyan Embassy began. Unbeknownst at the time, it was the day after the Discovery Channel was launched. It was also the day after the launch of the space shuttle Discovery (STS-51-G) which marked the first Arab and Muslim in space (payload specialist Sultan bin Salman bin Adulaziz Al Saud). Yes, it was 1985. Ronald Reagan was in the White House, Commodore launches the Amiga personal computer while NeXT is founded by Steve Jobs after leaving Apple Computer.
Just two weeks before we went Back to the Future in the theaters, the Gallifreyan Embassy of Long Island officially began.

Note - I am working on some major adjustments to the column. Pardon the dust. PBS stations are in the section marked This Week In Doctor Who PBS (the Sarah Jane listings are moving in with PBS next week - expect a name change). Today Sarah Jane and K-9 listings are together as This Week In Doctor Who Spinoffs - next week that section becomes This Week In Doctor Who - Unlicensed, covering the K-9 listings and the long awaited return of the podcasting section. Torchwood listings are in Torchwood This Week.

Just a quick couple of bits of housekeeping.
1) FOX is talking to Russell T Davies about doing a script for Torchwood. If there is a US or International Torchwood series, it will be covered in Torchwood This Week section like the existing show.

New Producer for Sarah Jane Adventures Series 4?
The BBC is seeking a new producer to head up series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures according to an article today on ATV Network. It states that shooting is due to start in March and that the BBC will produce 12 episodes starring Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith.
This comes on the heels of yesterday's report in The Hollywood Reporter that The Sarah Jane Adventures creator and producer, Russell T Davies is spearheading a US version of Torchwood with Fox. We can assume the reason the BBC is seeking a new producer for CBBC spin-off of Doctor Who is due to the fact that Russell T Davies is in the US and if reports are correct, may be busy with the US Torchwood project.

It's Party Time on the Sci-Fi Party Line Podcast
Last week I had the pleasure of being a guest on the Sci-Fi Party Line podcast. I was invited to come on episode 39 of the podcast hosted by Cat ( @fancyfembot ) and Eric Escamilla ( @Bullitt33 ) (we just had Eric on with us in Doctor Who: Podshock 169).
In it, we discuss The Sarah Jane Adventures episode, The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith which guest stars David Tennant, the preview clip of Dreamland (the new animated Doctor Who adventure), and the upcoming Doctor Who special, Waters of Mars. We even ponder on the upcoming new series starring Matt Smith with Steven Moffat. Plus we touch upon Torchwood as well in this episode.
