This video reports on BFI's screening of the two missing Doctor Who from Galaxy Four and The Underwater Menace recently discovered.
This time around it is my absolute pleasure to announce something classic series related. The DVD release of 'Reign of Terror' will have missing episodes 4 & 5 animated, in a 'Invasion' similar style.
Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill will be on hand at the Barnes & Noble located at 555 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY at 12 noon this Friday, April 8, 2011 signing copies of the DVD box set of Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series (season 31).

As reported in Wired magazine the restoration of Ambassadors of Death has gotten a boost due to a new editing computer.
"Their method is a refined version of that trialled on the 2009 Planet of the Daleks re-release; it is now being deployed on a seven-part 1970 Jon Pertwee adventure, The Ambassadors of Death. "It seemed almost recordings, they didn't filter off the colour carrier [encoded as a 'chroma dot' pattern in each frame], which for the last few decades has been nothing more than an annoyance." Team member Richard Russell used the signal to reverse-engineer raw colour pictures that could be retouched frame by frame. "It's very, very labour intensive -- several hundred man hours' work every episode," says Steve Roberts. Luckily, a new "quadrant editor" is helping them to produce better source material upfront, so they hope to deliver the Ambassadors episodes to the BBC within weeks."
BBC Worldwide have announced a Classic DVD Doctor Who Channel, to come today.
BBC Worldwide have announced a Classic DVD Doctor Who Channel, to come today.
The Idea is that snippets and trailers are to be released on a regular basis, the official line is this:
"BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, will be launching a Classic Doctor Who channel on YouTube on 4th January.
The new channel, featuring a mixture of classic clips and exclusive previews from forthcoming Doctor Who DVD releases, will appeal to existing fans and give new viewers an opportunity to sample some classic Doctor Who. The channel will complement the Classic Doctor Who Twitter account @classicdw run by 2entertain.
Even though we are still a couple weeks away from the airing of Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol (coming to BBC (6pm) and BBC America (9pm) on the 25th of December), we already have a release date for the special on Blu-ray and DVD.
Just in time for Gallifrey 22, the special is slated for release on the 15th of February. So much for giving it as a Valentine's Day gift. Along with the special, the accompanying 'Doctor Who: Confidential' on it and 'Doctor Who at the Proms 2010' will be included as bonus material.
We can also assume that the special will be available on iTunes the day after it is shown on BBC America, so figure on it being there on Boxing Day.

As we previously announced, the Doctor Who 1996 Movie will finally be released as a region 1 DVD in North America. It has long been available on region 2 (I had my copy for some time now), it has been tied up in release rights issues between the studios involved (BBC, Fox, Universal) for a region 1 DVD release since the movie first aired.
We were pleased to report that it would finally be coming to region 1 with the recent revisiting of the DVD (a new re-release edition). Up until now, we didn't have a release date other than 2011 for this 8th Doctor adventure starring Paul McGann and Daphne Ashbrook. Now according to tvshowsondvd.com, BBC and Warner Home Video have announced that it will be released on February 8th as a 2-disc set titled, 'Doctor Who - The Movie: Special Edition.'
It coincides with the release of another 2-disc set 3rd Doctor story, 'The Mutants' starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant on DVD.
So the final line up for the Revisitations boxed set is laid down. In an interview with podcast Radio Free Skaro, Steven Shapanski asked Dan Hall about two releases that I've previously reported on here. First is "The Day of the Daleks" which was the teaser trailer that I reported on in my blog here. Day of the Daleks, will be it's own release and not part of the Revisitations boxed set as I previously reported, and with all in all should not be expected until the end of 2011 beginning of 2012. Which left of course the question open, what would be the Third disk in the Boxed set Revisitations 2? The answer came as somewhat of a shock and moan from my self. The Seeds of Death, was the answer, granted the original 2 disk release left one wondering as to why there was a second disk at all. But Dan Hall revealed that Seeds of Death should have been a singular disk release. The other two disks will remain as reported "The Carnival of Monsters" and "Resurrection of the Daleks"
We are pleased to exclusively reveal the cover artwork for the upcoming new reissued DVD, Doctor Who: The Caves of Androzani.
The Caves of Androzani will be included in Doctor Who: Revisitation Box Set - Volume 1 (Amazon UK link) being released in the UK in 4 October 2010. Other revisited titles in this set include, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, and the 1996 Doctor Who Movie with Paul McGann.
Earlier today I got some brilliant news for all North American Doctor Who fans. Fellow Doctor Who podcaster, David Hooie released an unusual for him short podcast. Within the podcast one of the guys in charge of the Restoration team had the excellent news That the 1996 TV movie had just got the go ahead for a US release, after some hard negotiations with Universal, the owners of the rights in the US and Canada. For the full story follow this link.

So after watching this DVD a couple of times a quick review. Of course I should be the one to tell you about this release, Patrick Troughton's 2nd Doctor being my favourite Doctor despite being born in the Time of Pertwee. This Story see's the Doctor land the Tardis on the Planet of Dulkis for a Vacation, on an Island that the Doctor has forgotten to check for Radiation. Meanwhile the Dominators have landed on the Island and are preparing a site for drilling supported by the Robotic Quarks.
