Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi - Episode 5
Running Time: 1:32:09
Torchwood: Children of Earth review (located towards the end to avoid spoilers, the rest of this podcast proceeding the review is spoiler free), Blake's 7 Audio Books, Doctor Who's 11th Doctor's New Threads and TARDIS, Torchwood Radio Dramas, Mike's Comics Winners, feedback and more.
Today was the day it all turned around.
I don't know if it was all the fabulous Doctor Who fans I got to hang out with, but man, my Saturday rocked.
I saw John Barrowman abduct and photograph a Spartan Warrior.
I got filmed for Doctor Who Confidential.
I saw Naoko Mori in a top that defied conventional engineering.
I got to wave at Russel T. Davies and Colin Baker.
And then I took the evening off to see the Mythbusters.
Which was a huge mistake because David Tennant, John Barrowman and Russell T. Davies all attended the Doctor Who/Torchwood screening.
And they snogged on stage.
Not all at once!
David and John had a snog and then John ran over and gave Russel a chase little smooch so he would't feel left out.
I only know this because the video was posted on YouTube. :(
So much for my network of spies.
Correspondent Tara Wheeler on assignment attending San Diego Comic Con informed us of this little intimate moment with David Tennant and John Barrowman as they introduce the Doctor Who/Torchwood programming taking place at the convention.

Forbidden Planet (UK) has announced the availability of two versions of the 3rd Doctor (as played by Jon Pertwee) collectable action figure expected to arrive in their warehouse on the 30th of October 2009. It is going to be available in two sets.
Today I spent a good bit of the day just roaming, looking over as much of the Con as I could get access to.
I wore my new fedora hat and one of my Season Fourteen scarves.
Ballroom 20, where the Doctor Who and Torchwood panels will be held on Sunday, has changed the entrance to the bay side of the convention hall.
I'm going to the Hayao Miyazaki panel tomorrow morning, so I'll use that as a dress rehersal for Sunday.
I walked the Exhibit floor for several hours, meeting up with several friends from Gallifrey One.
The folks at BBC America were kind enough to tell me that David Tennant was due to fly into Los Angeles, where he was to attend several meetings and then come on down to San Diego Comic Con.
San Diego Comic Con is not a convention. It's a trade show. It's also a social experiment in frustration.
There's too many people crammed into a huge space.
Someday, something awful is going to happen. Sure hope I'm not here to see it.
Anyhoo, arrived in beyootiful San Diego, dropped stuff off at our amazing hotel (it's in an old bank building) and then headed down to the Con.
We stood in the 'Professional' line (my DH owns comic book shops) out in the hot sun for over an hour.
Then we got to sit down in an even bigger line to get onto the Exhibit Floor for Preview Night.
It was a zoo.
But the big boys all had their booths rockin'. DC. Marvel. Lucasfilm. Disney. Huge.
Packing, packing, and re-packing.
Most of San Diego Comic Con is standing in lines or crushing through a crowd to get somewhere, so I'm restricting myself to one bag on the con floor, another one for back at the hotel with clothes and back up stuff.
I keep going back and forth over whether or not I should wear one of my scarves. . . I'll pack one full sized one and a bunch of the sample scarves.
Got my digital recorder, the iPhone, of course, the good digital camera, the new MacBook, sound canceling headphones and regular ear buds.
The scarf I'm currently knitting on.
Business cards, photographs, my PodShock t-shirt, plenty of sharpies and my autograph book.
Got my tickets, my boarding pass, my hotel reservation number.
"My dear Miss Shaw, I never report myself anywhere, particularly not forthwith."

I figured I'd better give this here blog a whirl before things got nuts a little later this week.
I'm TARDIS-Tara, and I'm a special correspondant for PodShock.
I'm attending San Diego Comic Con and I'll be sending back pictures and soundbites and goodies all week.
So hold tight, watch this space.
IT IS COMING. IT IS COMING. IT IS COMING.
The Sun and Daily Mail (among other tabloids we imagine) have additional photos of Matt Smith (as the 11th Doctor) and Karen Gilan (companion Amy Pond) shooting the new Doctor Who series set to appear on BBC One in spring 2010. The photos in The Sun also reveal a bit of a spoiler, which we will not mention here. The redesigned TARDIS exterior reflects back to the early days of the series. Notice the return of the St. John Ambulance Cross emblem to the right door.
The Daily Mail includes a photo which reveals that the Doctor's new costume also include braces (suspenders), perhaps another nod to the Troughton era.

The BBC Press Office has posted a press release concerning the start of shooting the new Doctor Who series starring Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor in Cardiff starting today through March 2010. Thirteen 45 minute episodes are being produced by BBC Wales for BBC One.
