Metebelis 3
I love the reference to Metebilis 3. In the 1990's spin-off Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans, for licencing reasons there could be no mention of the Doctor or Tardis at all, though they did slip in a reference to Metebelis 3 to please the fans.
Now we have Metebilis 3 being mentioned again in a spin-off, this time mentioned at the exact moment the Tardis can be heard materialising, signalling the Doctor's arrival into his very first ever appearance into a spin-off in the shows 46 year history. I think it's all fantastic!

I kept waiting for a mention of Metebelis III during Turn Left, but it sadly never came. Seriously? A giant bug clinging to the back of someone, and we don't get a single link? The Macra from Gridlock bore about as much resemblance to the creatures from The Macra Terror as the lunch special at Red Lobster, but they still got some respect. If the Macra can devolve into a load of carbon monoxide breathing monsters, why can't the Spiders of Metebelis III evolve into some kind of temporal marauder like what we got?
Enter: The Conquering Chicken
