Benny: Absence
Benny ABSENCE is darker than the other Benny stories around it. I have to admit that I've never been a big Benny fan from the novels and the audios haven't really been all that thrilling either...I sort of haven't even listened until season 8. And I must say whoever thought of adding Peter, a son who is now 13 and then in 9 and 10, older, in this fashion was a brilliant person. Not only is Benny funny in all the end of season 8 and the whole of 9 and 10 but the stories are brilliant, and different and funny and exciting and unpredictable. Peter and Benny, together or separated are great, whoever plays her son is amazing and she is just great in every scene. Absence sees Peter chosen to go on an expedition under a strange almost living planet composed of human and alien spaceships that have crashed into each other as its center! Benny is not chosen and she and Peter need the money to get off this strange planet. Amazing story and the fact is that Benny is usually pretty safe in these...I mean I guess she can die...but no one else, not even her son is safe and could die at any time. This makes it all very exciting and dangerous. Of course that awful show TORCHWOOD took things too far the other way and made almost everyone die and/or crushed the characters' spriits but this is very good, very well done.
Try Benny, you won't be dissapointed. Stgart with the end of season 8 and go right through to the current one (10.2). They are very well done and Lisa Bowerman is amazing
