Recovered 'missing episodes' from Africa for the Doctor Who stories, 'The Web of Fear' and 'The Enemy of the World' both starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor thought to have been lost forever have been remastered and are now on iTunes!

Episode 3 of the 1968 story 'The Web of Fear' has been reconstructed using stills and audio, the other episodes of this 6 episode adventure have been remastered.

It's great to finally have "new" old Doctor Who to watch. Each story is $9.99 (USD) or $1.99 (USD) per episode. Links to both are below:

There's more news than that concerning these lost episodes!

Already it's been announced that DVD releases of these storise will be out soon. Enemy of the World will be released on November 25th, 2013 and The Web of Fear will be released in "earluy 2014". Naturally these are tha UK release dates but the other regions probably won't have to wait too long for the them.

You can read about it here on Doctor Who Magazines website:

It's safe to assume that the DVD releases will also contain extras not included in the iTunes release. Possibly a commentary track and other original extras that are usually found on DVD releases. So it will tempt many of us to buy them again.

I've heard rumors that the DVD releases will be pretty "vanilla", with almost no extras.

I think that they are just trying to get the episodes out as fast as they can and do a better DVD later.

But like I said before, it's rumor. Since it is rumor I can't confirm nor deny this.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if this turns out to be the case. It takes some time to produce those extras we see included on most DW DVD titles today. It wouldn't be the first time that they have released "vanilla" titles with the bare minimum on them only to release more robust versions with extras later on down the road. It's a bit of double-dipping into our pockets though.

Between VHS, LD, and DVD versions, I can't tell you how many copies of  'The Five Doctors' I might have. (Well, at least before Superstorm Sandy hit anyway).
