"BBC America’s celebration of Doctor Who continues with a second season that captures the best of everything Doctor Who. Comedians, fans from the celebrity world and beyond have weighed in on their favorite destinations and female characters of Doctor Who as well as if they’d rather stop time, go back in time or look into the future. Our Doctor Who aficionados also weigh in on their favorite Doctor Who gadgets and how they would use them given the opportunity and explain what makes them the ultimate Doctor Who fan."
Just thought I 'd add to this comment by letting you know that the titles and release schedule has bee set for the last stories with Mary Tamm. The schedule is this:
Jan 2013 - The Auntie Matter.
Feb 2013 - The Sands of Life (part 1)
Mar 2013 - War Against the Laan (part 2)
Apr 2013 - The Justics of Jalxar
May 2013 - Pantoms of the Deep
Jun 2013 - The Dalek Contract (part 1)
Jul 2013 - The Final Phase (part 2)
A couple of notes about the stories:
The April story features the guest appearance oif Jago and Litefoot.
The final two episodes have Romana I encountering the Daleks.
K-9 appears in stories 2, 5, 6 & 7. There are possibly more but's that all I see with K-9 listed in.
They have also announced that a new series will be made with Leela as companion again in 2014. No word if K-9 will be with them or not, but I expect that Big Finish to continue with the stories that take place after "TheTaolns of Weng-Chiang" and before "The Horror of Fang Rock".
Dave, Mike and Ian have trouble getting the Piano down the stairs so they stop to have a cuppa and work on this weeks Commentary: Luther Series 1 Episode 5
Thanks for the BBC confirmation and the information about Tom Ward also being cast in the special. Like yourself, I am not familiar with his work. I don't think I had seen him in anything as of yet, unless I saw that the H.G. Wells thing he did, I don't recall if I saw it or not.
The story from the website also mentions that Tom Ward will also be in the Christmas special as well. However I'm not really familiar with his work but here is a link to wikipedia for his bio and filmography:
Richard E. Grant is known for his voice work on "Scream of the Shalka" but he may be better well-known for his role in the Francis Ford Copola version of "Bram Stoker's Dracula" where hr played the part of Dr. Seward and more recently the movie "The Iron Lady". For a more detailed look at his io and filmography you can go to the wikipedia link here:
Since the first special aired last night (The Science of "Doctor Who") I thought that I'd check to see if the special was available on iTunes and you'll be glad to know that the first special is there.
However since I'm in the USA it might not be available for other markets (like the UK, Australia, Germany etc...) I can only suggest that you use the search on your version of iTumes and look for the specials by title.
One that I would remove from the list would be Tasmin Drew - not because it's not a televised episode but because she wasn't that much of a henchman in my eyes.
I would include the robots (from "Robots of Death") because when they were reprogrammed they became cold emotionless henchmen to their new boss Taren Capel, that would even kill for him without a second thought.
Another inclusion would be Mr. Sin (from "The Talons of Weng-Chiang"). He was a killer and henchman for the maniacal Magnus Greel in the story and did so with no concern for the consequences to himself.
Thanks for posting this... I had heard that there would be some BBC America specials coming this way, but not their titles. "The Science of Doctor Who" --- interesting. I didn't think there was any left in the series as of the last several years. Do the writers of the series know about it?
Hopefully these specials will find their way to iTunes after they are broadcast, but who knows (no pun intended).
