After watching Let's Kill Hitler I think Moffet may be referencing the Arthur C Clarke story the Nine Billion Names of God. It's about a group of monks whose order is created to find the name of God and when they find it the universe will end. The way Moffet describes the silence really reminds me of the story. Has anyone else read it? Here's a link.
A note about our planned live shows reviewing 'Let's Kill Hitler' for Doctor Who: Podshock and our ongoing review of Torchwood: Miracle Day ('Immortal Sins') for Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi…
Due to the oncoming storm that is Hurricane Irene which is predicted hit here on Sunday. Not knowing if we will have power, let alone internet, it may be best to postpone our two scheduled live review shows for that day. Doctor Who: Podshock and Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi were both originally scheduled for a live-over-the-net review (of Doctor Who and Torchwood: Miracle Day respectively) on Sunday will be postponed to the following Sunday (4 September 2011) when we will double up and review two episodes of each series on each respective show to catch up.
That's it. I'm done. I am done being a DW fan or watcher. At least it feels that way. Moffat has ruined me for DW and ruined DW for me. He's just awful. LE'TS KILL HITLER was so very wrong on almost every count. Again, there are some good ideas around there floating but every scene is so bad and so poorly written and River Song actress Alex Kingston is so poor, performing as if she's in a jokey show and hokey show and maybe she's right. Every scene is poorly played and set up. Mels shoots the console but we don't see the Doc and her confrontation...it's happened already and they shake and crash. They don't even really have Hitler as the main confrontation...it's more River Song stuff and so very silly and so very boring. Why didn't River wait to see if her lipstick (GET SMART used poison lipstick) killed the Doc.
In my blog 'Realm Beyond Sight' I have posted an article thinking past the show about how Amy and Rory might react to finding out that River is their daughter. (You can check it out at the link below and comment as well.)
Watch out for the world premiere of the Doctor Who Motion Comic, which will be shown EXCLUSIVELY as a "bridging scene" in between commercials during the premiere of "Let's Kill Hitler," on Saturday, the 27th of August on BBC America. This according to Sources will only be shown on BBCA. You luck people!
The Anglophenia Blog on the BBC America website is always good for a few things, well here's Steven Moffat, with a one word answer to a question.
