VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA-Fatal Cargo, Timelock, Rescue,

TEASER

THE MAD WOMAN IN THE ATTIC 1`

Oh dear God. You know you're in trouble when the slit wrist writer Joseph Lidster is writing. He's responsible for the death of Peri's mother and friend, the cancer ridden Tegan, and one of the most disgusting Sapphire and Steel plays on audio I've ever heard. He's not a bad writer by any means, he's good, very good but his stuff is mind numbingly depressing and dark and pessemistic with little hope in any of his writings that he's so WRONG for DW and so very WRONG for Sarah Jane.

Audio book: Day of the Troll

David Tennant's readings of the audios are probably some of the best, right up there with Catherine Tate's. Unfortunately, here, he cannot do female voices well. And Simon Messingham is not one of my favorite authors. This story is VERY cliche and derivative or maybe DW has just run its course. A plant alien or something wooden (!) starts to take over the area in the near future (think THE ICE WARRIORS or SEEDS OF DEATH setting) just after an Ice Age has left the area. The guest characters are boring scientist types and the set up, which usually is the best part of a DW story, is cliche and boring and dull. In addition, for most of the climax of the story, the Doctor is...stuck in a cell...and then comes roaring up in a jeep type thingie. The female characters are cliche and I"m still not sure what happened to one or two of them and the male charactersa re all cliche too, rough macho types who really aren't. The villains, both alien and human, we've seen before WAY too many times.

Location Shooting Photos Gives a Glimpse of the New TARDIS Interior

DSCF0614.JPG

One can glean a little of what the new TARDIS interior will look like through these shots taken on location while shooting at the Llanwonno Church today (21 October 2009) for upcoming Doctor Who story starring Matt Smith. The photos taken by "Scootyboy" are available on his Photobucket page here (slight spoiler warnings).

THE POISON SKY

tHE BLOODY sky is on fire in this edition of DW CONFIDENTIAL. No wait. Yeah, the bloody sky is on fire!!!! It's like something Irwin Allen did in the 60 but looks even better. This part is a great ending to a really good story. Very satisfying. The only thing that was sad was that is appears that Ross was killed. In some ways it looked like a blast richocheted off the wall and the wall hit him but...no, it seems he's dead. Anyway, the other thing I didn't like was of course the Martha clone bit. It just didn't have much feeling to it really.

Ian Todd's Untruths Series 3 - The Louis Trapani Special

Ian throws out his standard fare of unusual questions at Louis and he supplies some daft answers in this 9 minute episode. They cover ice cream inventions, Life on Mars, Ashes and Ashes, soda, aliens, and much more.

Ian Todd has interviewed everyone from David Cross, Toby Hadoke, to our own James Naughton (Doctor Who: Podshock and Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi)
